Mission
The Christian Church's mission could be described as "bringing the Kingdom of Heaven." That is, we are to be about the business of bearing the Gospel, through saving Word and compassionate acts, with healing tongue and hope-giving deeds: Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
One tangible way that we seek to be Kingdom-bringers is through our Faith-in-Action events. Frequently after Sunday Morning Worship (though at different times too), we gather to put hands and feet (often literally!) on the faith we profess. A few examples of this Faith-in-Action ministry are:
- Nursing Home Visitation
- Lunch and conversation with English language learners/immigrants
- Local park clean-up/tree planting
- "Dear Ones at a Distance": cards, calls, care packages, etc.
- Shopping for local food pantries
- Neighborhood prayer walking
- Aid for homeless residents of Philadelphia
- Red Cross Blood Drive
- Helping elderly church members with raking, yard work, etc
- Civic Witness: Writing elected officials about issues of Christian concern
